Improving lives in and around Dane County for more than 70 years.
Daniels Construction was founded in 1953 by Joe Daniels Sr., a skilled carpenter who focused primarily as a residential contractor, on the values of honesty, integrity, quality, and reliability.
In the years since, Daniels has grown to be a trusted name throughout Dane County and the surrounding areas.
Highlights and milestones through the years
Joe Daniels Sr., founds the company as a residential home builder
First “Parade of Homes” home built
Joe Sr., becomes President of Madison Area Business Association. Company expands into multi-family construction
Company expands into commercial construction
Joe Daniels Jr. enters family business after graduating from UW School of Business in Construction Management
Jerry Daniels joins the family business after graduating high school and completing carpenter apprenticeship
Union representation departs, seizing the opportunity to cross-train employees and help them become more efficient
Last multi-family built; allocating for commercial construction. Street, Sewer, Water & Underground division added
Daniels Construction becomes members of Associated Builders and Contractors of WI
Joe Sr. sells the family business to Joe Jr. and Jerry, who become President and VP-Safety Director, respectively
Joe Daniels Construction celebrates 50 years in business
Daniels family sells portion of the business to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Through our participation in the ESOP, the entire employee “family” become owners who share in the growth of the company.
Sam Daniels, Jerry’s son, joins full time after graduating from UW School of Business as Project Manager then serving as COO
Company completed largest project in its history and received multiple industry awards
A second-floor addition was constructed, and first floor office was remodeled to accommodate the company’s growth.
Company transitions to third generation of ownership and leadership, as Sam Daniels is named President, continuing the commitment to the values upon which the company was founded.
2023 was a milestone year for Daniels, marking the 70th anniversary of the company. Additionally, Daniels won Wisconsin Family Business of the Year and three ABC Wisconsin Projects of Distinction awards.
